Amanda went to a race to help with the family company; Security Race Products. While she was at the drag race her Grandfather, Al Lapointe showed her the Junior Dragsters while they were racing. Amanda was instantly interested in drag racing. Racing has been a big part of her family’s history. Her Grandfather started drag racing in his early twenties. He then got interested and moved on to boat racing. He raced boats for years. After attending the drag race, Amanda asked her parents if they would consider letting her try it out. With her parents’ permission Amanda got to try drag racing for the first time on July 4th 2007. Jim Ronan, the Jr. Dragster coordinator at Pacific Raceways, let her rent the car, and with the help of his son Jason and her Grandfather they instructed her how to use the dragster. She also had to learn how to stage the car and do the lights. Amanda really enjoyed racing and was eager to learn all aspects of racing. Amanda learned about the dragster and how to change the oil and keep the car clean. After the season was over she had made it to the semis a few times and had a few best qualifying lights.
Amanda then decided that she would love to keep racing. She asked her parents to buy her a Jr. Dragster. They surprised her for Christmas and had a dragster waiting in the garage for her. With the help of her father Tim and her Uncle Scott and her Grandfather sponsoring the car and getting her another sponsor Race Rescue they completely stripped her dragster down and completely reconstructed it. This took the team about 3 months to do. They worked a lot of hours cleaning and polishing parts. They had the chassis powder coated by Rainer Powder coating, and the body painted by Diamond Marine. It was a great learning experience for all. After they put the dragster back together her Uncle Scott who works at the family business did all the Vinyl work on her car. Security Race Products provided all of her safety gear. Her driving suit was designed and custom made by Security Race Products.
